Sproochentest guide
Sproochentest Sample Questions by Topic
Real interview questions from across the 17 Sproochentest topics, in Luxembourgish with translations, plus two model answers to adapt.
The best way to lose the fear of the Sproochentest interview is to see the questions before exam day. LëtzPass draws on a large bank of real, reported questions, and below is a representative sample across every topic, in Luxembourgish with English translations.
The questions are not secret or unpredictable. They circle the same everyday subjects every year, so a little focused practice goes a long way.
How the Sproochentest oral interview works
The interview is the first part of the oral exam, about five minutes. The examiner offers you two everyday topics and you pick one, then answers a series of short questions and follow-ups on it. Everything is in Luxembourgish at CEFR A2. For the full list of subjects, see our guide to every Sproochentest topic.

Two model answers to adapt
Treat these as templates, not scripts. Keep the simple structure and swap in your own life. Both keep to short, clear A2 sentences, which is exactly what the speaking test rewards.
Wéini waart Dir fir d'lescht an d'Vakanz? (When were you last on holiday?)
Ech war lescht Joer an d'Vakanz. Ech sinn am Summer fortgaangen. Ech hu meng Famill besicht an sinn op d'Plage gaangen. Et war ganz waarm an ugeneem. Ech hunn dat gär, well ech ka relaxen. Ech mengen, et war eng flott Vakanz.
(Last year I went on holiday. I went away in the summer. I visited my family and went to the beach. It was very warm and pleasant. I like that because I can relax. I think it was a lovely holiday.)
Wou hutt Dir virdru gewunnt? (Where did you live before?)
Virdru hunn ech an engem anere Land gewunnt, a menger Heemechtsstad. Do hunn ech mat menger Famill an engem Haus gewunnt. Et war e grousst Haus mat engem Gaart, an d'Famill war ëmmer do. Duerno sinn ech op Lëtzebuerg komm fir ze schaffen. Ech fannen, d'Liewen doheem war schéin, mee Lëtzebuerg ass och gutt. Ech mengen, den Ëmzuch war eng gutt Entscheedung.
(Before, I lived in another country, in my home city. There I lived with my family in a house. It was a big house with a garden, and the family was always there. Then I came to Luxembourg to work. I think life back home was nice, but Luxembourg is good too. I think the move was a good decision.)
How to use these questions
Do not memorise long scripts. Pick one topic, answer each question out loud, and build four or five reusable sentences you can reshape for any subject. Record yourself once a week and listen back. When you can answer any question on a topic in three or four clear sentences, you are ready for that topic. For the structure of the picture task, see our four-step picture description method.
Frequently asked questions
Are these the exact questions I will be asked?
Not exactly, but they are real, representative questions on the same everyday topics. The examiner varies the wording and asks follow-ups.
What language are the Sproochentest questions in?
Luxembourgish. The whole interview is conducted in Luxembourgish at A2 level.
How many topics can come up in the oral exam?
The interview draws on everyday A2 topics such as housing, health, food, and travel. The examiner offers two and you choose one.
How should I practise with sample questions?
Answer out loud, record yourself, and build a few reusable sentences per topic rather than memorising long scripts.
